Dr. Sarah Novak is an Associate Professor in the Psychology Department and serves on the faculty of the Master of Public Health program at Hofstra University. She teaches undergraduate courses in introductory psychology, health psychology, social psychology, and advanced research methods, as well as graduate seminar course in social psychology and the social determinants of health. Dr. Novak was named the 2014 Teacher of the Year for Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Dr. Novak's research explores the role of close relationships in promoting or inhibiting good health habits, with a particular focus on body weight and nutrition. She has also contributed to evaluations of health policy changes in school environments, ranging from the removal of unhealthy snacks to the development and implementation of school wellness policies.
